How the alt-right is rebranding white supremacy
http://globalcomment.com/how-the-alt-right-is-rebranding-white-supremacy/ People of the white genocide concept are quite clear that it does not involve killing. The White Genocide Project says that white genocide fulfills the UN Genocide Convention definition of, “Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part” by, in their words, “forcing White areas to accept diversity.” They say that “diversity is a codeword for white genocide.” Which, of course, means that white genocide is a code word for diversity. There’s just diversity, immigration, and interracial relationships. |

Every day, I secretly chase after your footsteps
I’m always careful so you won’t notice No one says it but our date has started, our own date Where are you going? Step by step, I follow you Without a word, you lead me Step by step, did you notice me? I have nowhere to hide When the sun rises, I walk in sync and together with you I am really really into you When the moon rises, you fall asleep in my arms I really really like you Day by day, we resemble each other more and more Your laughter and tears, I know it all Don’t be scared, we’re a fate tied by the sun, it’s our destiny to be together Where are you going? Step by step, I follow you Without a word, you lead me Step by step, will you notice me? I don’t want to hide When the sun rises, I walk in sync and together with you I am really really into you When the moon rises, you fall asleep in my arms I really really like you The person in the mirror is smiling with you, I don’t know Underneath your feet, without an expression, I hide behind you The person in the mirror is shining So I can get jealous of the smile the resembles you I stick closer to you and we are connected When the sun rises, I walk in sync and together with you I am really really into you When the moon rises, you fall asleep in my arms I really really like you When the sun rises, I walk in sync and together with you I am really really into you When the moon rises, you fall asleep in my arms I really really like you |
I assume this song is an allusion to the movie and book "Paper Towns" (even though it's really clear that they didn't base it off the song at all). Paper Towns is about a boy (Quentin) who has had the longest crush on the most popular student in high school (Margo). They both live in the same neighborhood and go to the same school. Around the middle of the story, Quentin finds out that Margo runs away from home, and left him clues to follow her whereabouts. While on his journey, Quentin began to realize that although it seems that she's the coolest person to ever live, her life wasn't always how it seemed to be. Quentin starts on an obsessive mission to find the girl who stole his heart and made him feel truly alive to come back home. This song really relates to this song, because he's secretly yet purposely chasing after her footsteps. He understands and likes Margo so much, but she's left thinking that no one does. |
Auli'i Cravalho - How Far I'll Go
How far Iʻll go
I've been staring at the edge of the water Long as I can remember Never really knowing why I wish I could be the perfect daughter But I come back to the water No matter how hard I try Every turn I take, every trail I track Every path I make, every road leads back To the place I know where I cannot go Where I long to be See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me And no one knows How far it goes If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me One day I'll know If I go there's just no telling how far I'll go I know everybody on this island seems so happy, on this island Everything is by design I know everybody on this island has a role, on this island So maybe I can roll with mine I can lead with pride, I can make us strong I'll be satisfied if I play along But the voice inside sings a different song What is wrong with me? See the light as it shines on the sea? It's blinding But no one knows How deep it goes And it seems like it's calling out to me So come find me And let me know What's beyond that line, will I cross that line? See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me And no one knows How far it goes If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me One day I'll know How far I'll go |
Hokuleʻa
This song alludes to the Hokuleʻa, the voyaging canoe that travels from Hawaiʻi to Tahiti to prove that Polynesians didn't use technology and instead used the stars and sky to navigate their travels across the sea. In the song, the lyric goes "I've been staring at the edge of the water long as I can remember" This is alluding to the idea that the journey on this canoe takes a very long time because the expedition is overseas. The whole song alludes to a journey, beyond a place nobody in everyday life would experience. Just like the Hokuleʻa, only certain people get to travel aboard the canoe to experience a feeling of nostalgia of a remote time of their ancestors and what the first Polynesian voyagers experienced. "I know everybody on this island has a role, on this island" On the Hokuleʻa the people aboard have certain roles, and duties that they have to do to ensure safe travels, this alludes to the song, everyone on the "island" *alluding to the crew* has a role. "I can lead with pride, I can make us strong" The Hokuleʻa not only proves that polynesianʻs were excellent voyagers it is a renaissance of survival, rediscovery, and the restoration of pride and dignity. So this lyric alludes to this song because the Hokuleʻa is taking a big step in history, and being a pioneer for many generations to come. |
